Our little girl!

Well, as promised, here are the pictures of our little baby girl. We are really excited about her now that we've gotten over the shock of it. The due date is still set for March 22, 2010. She's a healthy, happy baby, and we are grateful for that.

This is the profile picture of her, you can see her cute little nose. I just hope she looks as beautiful as her mother.

This one is a picture of her little feet, which Emilee just loves... something about cute little shoes. I do hope her feet are more like mine, otherwise they'll always be cold!

This last one is another profile, you can see her arm pretty clearly, and her hand. She almost looks like she's about ready to suck her thumb... either that or she's winding up to punch her momma! I'm sure her mom won't disagree with the later.

It's crazy to think we're actually going to be parents, but I can't imagine a better mother for our children. So say hello to our little girl, we're still thinking about names. We'll let everyone know when we nail something down.

Okay......Now What?

We had our ultrasound yesterday and got the shock of our lives. We are having a GIRL! And now we are asking ourselves....now what? For our entire marriage we really felt like a little boy was going to come first and so did the rest of our family. Now we are left looking like a deer in the headlights! I was so shocked when we were told, that I kind of stopped paying attention to the ultrasound. I ended up asking the lady who did our ultrasound 3 separate times if she was sure it was a girl and she confirmed it for me 3 times while laughing at my shocked expression. I even asked if there was more than one in there because I still could not wrap my head around that thought of having a girl and not a boy.

After we left we both just looked at each other and didn't know what to do. We made a few phone calls to tell our parents the news and then we went to my parents house for some family pictures. My mom was so excited that she bought a headband for a girl and some darling socks. That started to get us a little more ok. Then we pulled down a box of some dresses and clothes that I wore as a baby and they are still in great shape and so cute. It was the little shoes that got to me I must admit. We started to feel better about everything as my family was very excited for us but then when we were driving home we started to feel weird about it all again. It has been hard for me to change how I talk to the baby and about the baby. I would always say "he" is kicking or "he" is very active today and so forth. I haven't fully transversed to "she" yet but I am sure it will come.

As for now, we are just trying to get used to the idea of having a girl. Kelvin set down a rule last night that there will be nothing frilly for the child. I laughed and said that with both our families you really think that we will get away with that one? So here we go.....a little girl. What adventures lie ahead of us!

P.S. We will post pictures of the ultrasound visit on a later post.

You Know You're Pregnant When....

One minute you are full and the next you are starving to death.

The only other room you spend more time in besides the kitchen is the bathroom.

You suddenly understand why your mom always said "after all I've done for you..."

Every commercial or ad you see makes you emotional or hungry.

You have to lift up the bottom of your shirt to make sure you didn't drop any food on your belly.

Having to sticky note everything because you can't remember what you did 5 min ago let alone know what you need to do next week.

Forgot where you put your sticky note list.

After searching for sticky note list decide you don't have enough energy to do it anyways and spend the rest of the afternoon on the couch reading a book or watching a movie.

Your "innie" becomes an "outie"

You can't wait to start getting the "bump", then you get it and can't wait to get back to your pre-pregnant tummy.

Something falls on the floor of the car and you watch it roll back and forth because you can't pick it up.

You can smell what the neighbors 3 buildings down are having for dinner.

You cry after watching the Biggest Loser. (But come on, there is always an emotional ending right?)

Everything and nothing sounds good all at the same time.

You gag while brushing your teeth.

You're talking with your mom on your cell phone while frantically tearing apart your purse looking for it.

You scour the store trying to find the only food you want, just to get home and decide that it really doesn't sound/smell good anymore so you don't eat it.

You are laughing one minute only to start crying the next.

You can out burp your husband. (Never saw this one coming.)

And finally....

You sneeze and end up peeing your pants a little!

Hmm...The Jury's Still Out on This One

So a week from tomorrow we get to find out what our baby is. We are so excited that the time is just dragging on. My best friend found out today that she is having another little girl. We both thought she was going to have a boy, but we were surprised. It makes me wonder if that is going to happen to us. I really want a boy because I think everyone should have a big brother, but I am getting nervous because it's all up in the air at this point. And when we both were so sure she was having a boy, it causes me to rethink. Great! Now the week's gonna go by that much slower. Maybe this is why I am starting the vote a few days before planned. And for our family all over the world who don't get to see the growing belly, here is a long neglected picture.

18 weeks and counting....

Museum of Natural History

My little brother came to stay for the weekend while he was out of school. We have kept things pretty low key as I got a bad cold at the beginning of the week and needed extra rest. But today I was feeling better and we went to the Utah Museum of Natural History. We got in for free since Kelvin is a student and I work for the U. It was really cool. There were 2 brand new dinosaurs that haven't even been named yet there. One was actually found by a student from the U in southern Utah. He is writing a book about it for his doctorate thesis and was quite excited about the find. We got to see the structures and layouts of the new dinosaurs as they were both found in Utah, but we were not allowed to take any pictures because nothing has been published on these two dinosaurs yet. The rest of the museum was a lot of fun but we were tired by the end. This was a special exhibit because not only were they showing the new dinosaurs, but they let you go into the basement where all the stuff that's too fragile to be put on display was. We also got to see some impressions of dinosaur skin on one of the bones. They told us that to find dinosaur bones is rare, but to find one with impressions of the skin is very very rare. The cool thing was they let us touch it, so we were able to pet an actual dinosaur!!

Woolly Mammoth

If you look closely you can see the one dinosaur biting the others neck.

We laughed at Matt on this because he wasn't ready for the picture and it came out looking like he was a Cave Man with the dinosaur!

Beautiful white wolf

Look how much my belly is growing! It's hard not to feel really fat in pictures even though I know I'm just pregnant.

Making his mark with the other cave men! Just Kidding. He really didn't write on anything.

I'm Hungry? Again?

I have never been one to eat a lot of food. Occasionally here and there I could pack it away, but then I wouldn't be hungry for hours and hours and sometimes days. If I ate a big lunch, most the time I wouldn't eat until the next day. I just never got that hungry and never ate a lot. My family would make fun of me for my child like portions at dinner when we got older, but I just never have needed that much food.

Can I just say.......what a surprise to be pregnant! I will eat a normal adult sized meal and then a couple of hours later I am hungry again! What is this? One day I was particularly hungry and out ate both my little brother and my husband. Imagine my thoughts when I turned up hungry again after only 2 hours!! What in the world is going on here? My baby is only 5 inches big and yet I feel I am eating like a football player. How is it I am hungry every few hours? It's driving me a little bonkers because I have never thought about food so much and eating has definitely become a chore. My doctor was very strict with me about not missing any meals and for the most part I haven't. There have been those days where I get hungry and am not able to stop and eat, and then the hunger goes away and then I just don't eat. But those are few and far between. Luckily I have a great husband who will stay on top of me and make me eat even when I go kicking and screaming to the kitchen. I am tired of eating and getting hungry so often. I am also tired of coming up with creative things to eat because I get sick of eating the same thing over and over very quickly.

I even have dreams about eating almost every night. Last night my entire line of dreams was me at the grocery store trying to decide what to buy and different recipes I could try. I was making up recipes in my head at the store with all the ingredients I was looking at. All and all I am just amazed at how much food my body is demanding.
