The Good, the Bad, the Chocolate Bandits

On Saturday a good friend of mine got married and we were invited to the sealing. It was a beautiful wedding and the newly weds looked so good together. Right after the ceremony we were waiting for the couple to come out and we got bored. After a few pictures, Kelvin decides to take a video of me (posted just before this blog). I didn't know he was even taking it, but we were having fun while waiting. Right after the appearance of the new couple we went straight to the luncheon. They decided to do pictures after the luncheon much to Kelvin's excitement. We had a great lunch and the best part was the small boxes on each plate! This was the highlight as it was filled with chocolate. There just so happened to be a few extra boxes at our table and with a little slight of hand as we ran out the door, we became the chocolate bandits. It was a great weekend!

One of the random pics

The flowers were beautiful so I made Kelvin take a picture of us with them. Since he hates pictures I had to make it fun.

My Thermo II Test

Well I'm having a good day. I just took my first Thermodynamics II test last week. Today I got back the results. I got a 93% so that's great. It's graded on a curve and the average was a 71% so that's even better. Of course it really helps that I really enjoy the class. It's a lot of fun to learn about practical things. This test dealt with Spark Ignition engines, Diesel Engines, Jet Engines, and many other things. Anyways I love learning about stuff like that which helps a lot when you're taking a class.

How Lucky I Am!

Since I don't get much opportunity to brag about my wonderful wife I decided to show her off. So I took this video of her. Isn't she cute? I sure think so.

School AGAIN?!?

I was talking to my friend this morning and I found out that she didn't know about my new schooling situation. While thinking about it, I realized that we have only told a few people. I decided to post a blog and let everyone know what is up with Emilee still being in school. Well I should have graduated quite a few years ago and was in my senior year when my situation changed and I had to leave. I then got a great job at a Dialysis clinic where I worked for quite a few years. A couple years ago I decided I needed to finish my bachelors and then go to nursing school and was on the road to finishing both in 2 years. When I was in my last semester before I could apply to nursing school and would have graduated with my bachelors (1 year ago), I decided to up and get married!! This obviously brought down my heavy work load as I had to drop a few classes. Kelvin had a little over 2 years left and that was not enough time for me to get my last 2 nursing pre-req classes done and then apply and get into the school I wanted. I have 3 classes left for my first bachelors (History and Political Science) and was going to graduate in Dec when we found out that Kelvin was being held back 1 year because of a pre-req class he didn't know about. This puts us in Utah for 3 more years, the perfect amount of time to finish my bachelors AND go to Nursing school. I droped my last 3 regular classes and am taking Microbiology and Pathophysiology, my last 2 pre-reqs and next semester will finish up my original bachelors. I am thrilled to pieces that I finally get to finish school with 2 degrees and go to the school of my choice!! I have worked so long and hard to get to this point. The Lord has taught me some patience as I have tried a few times to get back into school over the last 4 years and it never seemed to work out. We both feel the Lords hand in this situation. If I were to have waited to go to nursing school until we got to Texas and he started his job (which was the plan), it would have taken longer as I would have had to retake a few classes as they only count a few years before you apply to the program. And who knows if I would have gotten a chance to do it at all. So this semester I am back in the medical mindframe and LOVING every minute of it. Hard, yes. But to me, an education is one of the most rewarding things of life and after the trial, you do receive the blessings. I am living proof of that.

Get The Door, It's DoMEnos!!

So I officially started my job at Domino's pizza last night. I got right back into the swing of things and started driving almost right off. Which is really good 'cause normally you don't actually do any driving for about a week till you figure stuff out and then you drive with someone else to get trained, but since I already know what I'm doing, I went right to work after a really quick brush up training. I made pretty good tips for a Thursday, too. I've officially decided, I'm going to need more books on CD though cause I can only handle music so much longer! I only got lost a couple of times, which is pretty good considering I was working in the late evening.

Sleep? What's that?

So the past week I have been having major insomnia. Only getting about 2-4 hours of sleep a night. Stress and worry have not been playing a part as I am not stressed or worried about anything. And as the days have been going on, I haven't seemed to be so tired and have been able to focus pretty well and get things done. Well the night before last, I got NO sleep! I thought I was going to be dead all day yesterday but surprisingly wasn't. I did decide however that I needed to get some good sleep last night and resorted to taking an OTC (Over the Counter) sleep pill. I thought that this would perhaps break the cycle of my sleepless nights and then things would go back to normal. BAD MISTAKE!!! I seem to have bad reactions to the sleep promoting drugs. I stay away from NyQuil for the same reason. I end up crying all night because I am so tired and want nothing more than to sleep, but my legs want to run a marathon and I can't hold still for the life of me. This was the case last night. I was up until 2:30am pacing the living room doing nothing but cry because I was so tired and my legs wouldn't let me stay down. I finally fell asleep thanks to a blessing from my sweet husband and some wonderful Calcium and Magnesium vitamins which help calm your muscles. I stayed in bed until 9 and have been dragging all morning still feeling the groggy effects from the pills. The funny thing is that had I just left things alone and not gotten any sleep "naturally", I would have been more awake today and been able to get some homework done already. Can we say Ironic?

Jobless bums???...I think not!

Today is a day of celebration. The day Gregory and I are no longer jobless bums (as Gregory would so eloquently put it). I have been searching for a couple of months and Gregory has for about a month. Well after both of us sending in resume after resume and application after application, he finally went to Domino's pizza and was hired as a delivery driver. Apparently they make pretty good money in Murray and it's a small area for deliveries because of all the apartment complexes. Then today I finally had an interview for a Nursing Services clinic. They travel to businesses in the Salt Lake Valley and give flu shots. I was hired in the interview to be a clerk, basically doing all the paper work and dealing with the people. It is temporary, but will last until the first week in Dec. So now we only have one job to worry about getting time off for Christmas so we can go to Texas. We are back in the game baby!!!

Mesa Verde

So on our way back to Utah we stopped off at the largest cliff dwellings in North America, Mesa Verde. I have to say that this was quite possibly one of the coolest places that I've been. It was well worth the stop, although our hotel wasn't quite up to par. Emilee and I loved the dwellings though, she just loves history and I like cliffs so it worked out just great. It's a huge park and we didn't get to see all of it but we were about to take a couple of tours and do some self guided ones. I have to say that the paid tours were well worth the money ($2 a person). We did the more adventurous ones which was tons of fun if a little scary at times. Well here are the pictures.

It's a beautiful park, you just feel on top of the world up there. There was a forest fire a few years back that took out a lot of the forest but it's growing back now.

This is the beginning of the largest cliff dwelling in North America. You can just see their food storage room at the top of the picture.... I guess the Nephites prophets said food storage was good too.

Okay this was a tunnel we had to crawl though on hands and knees if you brought a backpack it wouldn't fit and you had to take it off and push it in front. Hope you're not claustrophobic!

Don't I have a beautiful wife. I just adore her!

Ahh the stairway...well kind of. Can you believe the Indians did it without the chains and carried food and babies too!!

The Rest of the Apartment

As promised here are the rest of the pictures of our apartment. It's a pretty good place if you ask me. If only the internet worked better.... But we sure are glad that we have TRAX (the public train transport system) close by so that we can take it to school. Anyways, enjoy the pictures.

This is our bedroom with our little TV stand that dad helped me build. Okay he did most of the building... but I supervised.

Here's our narrow kitchen. It's a little too small but that's okay maybe someday we'll have more room.

This is the other side of the living room. Our office and dining area.

LEGO's

I've always thought that no home is complete without at least a couple of LEGO sets around. If I had to make a list of the greatest inventions ever made I'd definitely have to include LEGOs maybe even more important than the wheel. Least ways a set of wheels can be a lot more expensive then LEGOs. I've always tried to keep a few around. Luckily I have a wonderful wife who allows me to keep them around and display them publicly. Isn't she great!!

This is my CASTLE battleground! Watch out for dragons!

This is our bookshelf, it has it's own security system. ;)

New Place

We moved into our new apartment a couple of weeks ago and were very excited to have our own place. We had been living with Kelvin's parents all summer and then his aunt and uncle for a few weeks before and after Texas. We love them all dearly and were so happy they were there for us when we needed it. We moved in during the middle of the first week of school. That was a killer as classes were put on hold for the rest of the week while we got settled. The place seemed a little sketchy at first, but we have made it home and are very comfortable here.

This is the view from the front balcony

Here's the front room with our $100 couch! Two words: Garage Sale!

Front room from the other direction.
We will post more pictures in the near future.

So we finally caved!!

Well after months of deliberation we finally decided to create a blog. Emilee's been wanting to for a while but I've been against it because I figured it would take too much time. But last night I got bored and said, "Hey, babe, you wanna create a blog?" and she was pretty surprised. So here we are making a blog. We both are going to be doing this... well at least till I get bored of it. So You'll see my touches to it here and there. Well here we go enjoy the blog and we'll try to keep it current.
