Mesa Verde

So on our way back to Utah we stopped off at the largest cliff dwellings in North America, Mesa Verde. I have to say that this was quite possibly one of the coolest places that I've been. It was well worth the stop, although our hotel wasn't quite up to par. Emilee and I loved the dwellings though, she just loves history and I like cliffs so it worked out just great. It's a huge park and we didn't get to see all of it but we were about to take a couple of tours and do some self guided ones. I have to say that the paid tours were well worth the money ($2 a person). We did the more adventurous ones which was tons of fun if a little scary at times. Well here are the pictures.



It's a beautiful park, you just feel on top of the world up there. There was a forest fire a few years back that took out a lot of the forest but it's growing back now.



This is the beginning of the largest cliff dwelling in North America. You can just see their food storage room at the top of the picture.... I guess the Nephites prophets said food storage was good too.



Okay this was a tunnel we had to crawl though on hands and knees if you brought a backpack it wouldn't fit and you had to take it off and push it in front. Hope you're not claustrophobic!



Don't I have a beautiful wife. I just adore her!



Ahh the stairway...well kind of. Can you believe the Indians did it without the chains and carried food and babies too!!
