Sarah and Rene

Just before we headed to Utah for Christmas vacation, we stopped in Dallas for a wedding with some of our friends.  Sarah and Kelvin became friends while they were in the OLDP program together and we have all become friends since then.  They even came to Frisco to see us in the hospital after we had Jason.  We sat together at Carrie and Manny's wedding and then sat with Carrie and Manny at Sarah and Rene's wedding.  We have been looking forward to this day for a long time.

The ceremony was orthodox Catholic and quite interesting.  I have attended a mass before but didn't realize a few things about the Catholics.

1. They worship the Mother Mary as well as Jesus.  In fact the mass they hold on Saturday's are dedicated to her worship and the one's on Sunday's are for Christ.

2. When you are married as a Catholic couple, you light a candle and say a prayer to the Mother Mary asking her if she will be the "mother" of your marriage and guide and direct you.

3.  Latin is almost like a song when spoken.  The mass was in Latin and it was almost like the bishop was singing rather than speaking.  It was kind of beautiful.

The wedding was about an hour and a half and then the reception was a couple hours later.  The food was amazing as well as the dancing, toasts, cake, and everything that's fun about weddings.  Unfortunately, we had to leave early as my kids had been without me all day and they don't do well when mom is not around for long periods of time (particularly Jason).

It was a beautiful wedding and we are so happy for them and that we are friends.

Her father is a retired Colonel in the military.

 The happy couple!
