Why Make a Plan?

Sometimes we wonder why we make plans with our life. The Lord always has a way of changing these plans and we end up doing things completely different. One of these moments happened the other week. Kelvin told me about a program at school that will allow him to get 2 Masters degrees for the price and time of 1. It's a combined Mechanical Engineering and MBA program that will incredibly enhance his resume and would be quite an incredible opportunity for him. We had been planning and preparing to move to Layton for the summer while he interned at Hill Air Force Base which would have lasted this next summer and his last year of school. We were also thinking of possibly staying with the Air Force for his job after he graduated. But with this economy we wouldn't be making as much with him getting a job right after he graduated with his Bachelors, not to mention who knows what kind of state the Air Force will be in in a few years. With his Masters Degree he would start out at $10,000 more a year and hopefully with the time he is in school, things might change a little with the economy. Either way, he would definitely have more of an edge with this double Masters degree.

While we were thinking about the possibilities of him doing the Masters program, Lockheed Martin called and asked if he was going to come back to intern with them through the summer. When he got home and told me about this it brought back an impression I had a week or so ago. We were driving in the car and he started to talk about working with the Air Force and I got really uncomfortable and Lockheed Martin popped into my head. Which is weird because I really didn't want to drive with a baby to Texas this summer. Last year it was Kelvin who had the impression we should go to Texas so I guess this year it was my turn. After a lot of talking and praying, we both felt really good about him staying in school and doing the Masters program which would also mean we would go to Texas for the summer again. He should be able to keep his job with the College of Science next year which will be great for him to get homework done as he will be starting some of the classes for the program next year. One of the guys in his rocket group is very interested in doing the program with him so he will have someone he knows the whole time which is a bonus.

So our plans and lives have once again been turned upside down once again and we have no idea what the future holds. But we are hopeful and excited because we both feel this is right and there will be many good things come out of this. Including giving our Texas family time to get to know the baby as we will be in Utah for 3 more years of school. We figure it's also better to get it all done now when the baby is young instead of him trying to come back to get a Masters later when there are more responsibilities. While we are excited for this new path our lives are on, one thing is for sure; you can never go wrong when you trust in the Lord!

Busy Busy Weekend

After a long week of work I had a very busy weekend. I was trying to take a little nap on Friday when Kelvin came home and started to put up the Christmas tree. I then got up to help him and we ended up decorating our apt that afternoon. It was a good thing to do because I was feeling a little scrooge-like and was just going to skip the decorations this year. Could be from the pregnancy and how tired I have been lately but it feels more like Christmas with everything up and it's fun. Friday night some of my friends took me to see New Moon. I had seen it before with Summer but it was really good to see them again. We haven't hung out in a while and so a girls night out was kind of fun. Kelvin enjoyed his guys night playing video games as well.

Then on Sat I had a VERY full day! We had a baptism of one of our primary kids and then our primary activity. We decorated cookies for some of the elderly people in the ward and the kids LOVED doing it. Mostly they liked putting the sprinkles on the cookies and after putting on a mountain of sprinkles on one cookie we would shake it off while they started another. It was pretty funny. Then a few of us delivered the cookies. When I was all done with that, I came home to start making yummy (aka: funeral) potatoes for the Ward Christmas party that night. (I felt like such a grown up making real food for the party instead of just bringing a dessert.) I had recieved a phone call the night before asking if I would be willing to cook a pan of meat with the potatoes as they cook at the same temp. I told them no problem. But at the activity one of the leaders brought her potatoes with her and told me that her neice was in labor and the mother had just had surgery so she wasn't going to be able to cook them and take them. I told her no problem and took the potatoes home with me thinking that my potatoes will fit in the microwave and I can cook hers in the oven with the meat. Then when the meat came, they brought in TWO HUGE pans! Um....I thought I agreed to one guys! I had no idea what to do. They knew I had to make potatoes and when they brought the meat the guy knew how big my oven was. How in the heck was I supposed to cook everything? We ended up being late bringing the food because I just couldn't cook all that food in the time they wanted to have it done! Kelvin was awesome and told me not to worry about it because they had told me one thing and then brought another. I was happy to cook it all but it was quite a strain being on my feet all day long. Then when we were transporting it, some of the juice spilled on the seat of our car and now it stinks like pork.

The Christmas party was fun and we got to know another couple in our ward who we really enjoyed. We ended up bailing early though and coming home to relax. I was quite tired by the end of the day! I slept for 10 hours that night and was still really tired all day on Sunday. Guess I over did it a little on Sat.

Every get the feeling like you are about to get sick and just don't feel right but don't actually get sick? That was also last week. I am very glad that I did not get sick again as I am SO done with being sick. (I think I have done my fair share and more in this area.) But I have still felt a little under the weather. Mostly I've just been very very tired but still have felt "off" all week. Plus there is this blasted cold that seems like it will NEVER go away! I have had it for a month and a half and the Dr has even put me on antibiotics. It's gotten better, but still isn't gone. So all of that made the weekend a little harder and probably contributed to my crash on Sat night and Sun. I am feeling better this week although still a little tired but I figure I am almost in my seventh month of pregnancy so I will probably be feeling tired a lot more.

A Few of my Favorites

I was going through pictures earlier this week and ran across some of my favorites that were taken before we started our blog! I thought why not remember the good things in my life this wonderful Christmas Holiday so I am sharing them all with you.

My favorite engagement picture.

I love how they caught me primping before the reception.

A perfect picture with the blue sky!

Gotta love the cowboy hats and boots! And yes I did wear the boots under my dress at the wedding (except for the temple sealing obviously) and at the reception.

Moving into our first place.

His favorite Halloween costume.

My first time riding a bull.

This is one of my favorite pictures of us both!

After a long hard day at work, what better way to come home than to a snowman built by the best husband in the world just for me!

A road trip I took to Oregon. Isn't the scenery breath taking!

You probably can't see this very well, but it is of Gregory and Aaron. I love this picture of them.

Festival of Trees

Our good friend bought us tickets to the Festival of Trees this year which we were really excited about. We went this morning and had a great time. There were over 400 trees to look at and a gingerbread exposition. There were so many people there that it was hard to get around the isles and there were some very pushy people but we were able to get most the pictures we wanted. Some of the pictures might be a little blurry but we had to take them quick or we wouldn't have gotten them. We actually found a tree for everyone in our families but they are not all get posted in this blog because I don't want to overload the blog with pictures.

The house from UP.

The train was made out of gingerbread. It was awesome.

The sleigh has candy legos so we had to take a picture

This was my favorite gingerbread house.

This one was huge.

This one is for my brothers. I loved the motorcycle racing.

A scrap booking tree for Lisa.

Definitely an Ed tree.

This one is for Brandon, my dad and Kelvin's dad. It had sayings all over it relating to mechanics and handy man work. I feel bad that you can't see all the details but it was a really cool tree.

Under the Sea! Look close and you can see the shark.

Everybody loves Cookie Monster!

Loved the Grinch tree.

This tree was one of my favorites.

This was another of our favorites!!!

There were a lot of trees dedicated to little girls and this one was absolutely gorgeous! It made me think of our little girl being a "breath of heaven".

It Could Have Been Worse

So I got my test results back and the good news is I do not have gestational diabetes (we were not surprised by this but it was still good to hear). The bad news is that I am anemic. I am now on Iron supplements for the rest of my pregnancy and have to get extra rest this weekend. This also comes with a UTI and a bacterial infection in my lungs (thanks to the remnants of H1N1 that never left) which I am currently on antibiotics for. I was wondering why I was so incredibly exhausted and was struggling to get anything done this week. It's good to think that soon I might be back to a somewhat normal state and feel better. At least I only have one more day of work and then I can take some extra time to relax and get better. But as the saying goes...it could have been worse!

His Favorite One

We recently got a new outfit for our little baby and this one is Kelvin's favorite! When we found out it was a girl first thing he said about it was "nothing frilly and not very much pink!" But when he saw this outfit his heart melted and he became a big pile of mush. He even kissed my tummy again and told the baby and me that he loved us both. I think he is really excited to have a little girl even though he seemed to be tough about it at first. Most guy's go through that though I think.

They are all pink and brown and the writing on the pants and onesie behind the main pink one says I love mommy, I love daddy, I love everybody! They are so adorable and will be even more so when this little girl of ours is in them.

The onesie that melted his heart!

I also had an appointment today. The baby sounds really good and everything is moving along great. And I finally know what the hiccups feel like. I thought she was just moving around and kicking but just not as strong as normal. But when my Dr listened to the baby's heartbeat she told me that the baby had hiccups. My reaction was of course "so that's what it feels like!" And now I know. I was also tested for gestational diabetes and it was not fun. I get sick when I eat too much sugar and I had to drink 8 oz of almost pure sugar. Needless to say my tummy didn't feel well after that. We will find out the results tomorrow. I am not worried, but do know that insulin problems run in my family so I am being a little cautious. My tummy is getting so big that everyone at my work is starting to rub it and get excited when I walk past. It's kind of fun to see that so many people are excited. Only 16 more weeks to go!

You Know You're Pregnant When...(Part 2)

You toss and turn for hours at night only to finally fall asleep and then be woken up with an intense cramp in your leg or a full bladder.....again!

Bath towels start to become a lot smaller.

You try to get the make up off from under your eyes only to realize that there is no make up, only dark circles from lack of sleep.

The baby uses your bladder as their own personal trampoline.

You find yourself getting very upset with a store for not having a specific product and then tell your significant other for 20 min how you refuse to ever shop there again.

You cry for days after finding out someone you never knew has died.

You no longer need to use free weights to get a workout for your legs. The weight from your belly is enough to get a good burn.

You get kankles and can no longer wear your wedding ring from all the swelling in your hands and feet.

Heartburn will hit every night even though you have never had it before.

You have problems passing people in halls because your tummy sticks out so much.
