Fourth of July

We had such a fun day!  Kelvin's parents invited us to come to their neighborhood parade that is put on by their HOA and we thought it would be a lot of fun to go to a parade.  Lydia hasn't been to one and it's been a long time since we were at one.  We called some friends up to see if they wanted to come as well since they didn't have any plans to celebrate and family wasn't too close for them.  One couple did decide to come and so we met up and drove to Kelvin's parents.

Once we got their we found out that its actually the neighborhood kids get all dressed up and decorating their bikes and follow a fire engine to the splash park a couple blocks away.  Well, we didn't know this and didn't come prepared so I felt bad that poor Lydia didn't have a hat or sunscreen.  We both thought that we would be sitting in the shade watching a small parade instead of participating in one.  It ended up being a lot of fun though and once we got to the splash park, Lydia couldn't have been happier.  We didn't have a swimming suit so we just let her run around in the water with her clothes.  It's summer in Texas so we figured she would dry off quickly since it's so blasted HOT!!  She spent most of the time in the water running around with her squeals of delight.  All I could do was smile at my baby, I thought my heart would burst!  The barbeque was pretty good and they had snow cones to boot!  We spent a good hour and a half outside with the parade and then the park which lead to some tired kids by the end.  We walked to Kelvin and Maritza's house to cool off and put Lydia to bed.  Bonnie and Ashlon ended up staying for a bit and we all talked.  After a little longer, their little girl got tired and so they left.  Lydia finally went to sleep and Gregory and I snuck out to check out Best Buy.  We found a great TV for a great price, but decided we didn't want to spend that money right now.  I think he left a little sad!

After we went home, we relaxed and got caught up on a few things.  It was weird thinking that the next day Gregory would have to go to work, but at least he only works 3 days this week.  I love his job!!  He goes in early and gets off about 4.  They work 9 hour days so he gets every other Friday off and that is this Friday.  So with his paid holiday off and then Friday off, he gets to be home a lot this week.  We like when he is home with us.

Getting all ready for the parade.

We were at the end of the parade but Lydia liked watching all the kids in front of her anyway so it worked out great.

"I'm not so sure about this daddy!"

"Hey, this is kinda fun."

"Come on Mom, this is so awesome!"

I think she just ran and ran and ran through the water that entire hour and a half!

"This is SO COOL!!!"

One tired and soaked little baby!

Bonnie, Ashlon and their little girl.  Bonnie and I grew up in the same neighborhood and her husband is related to Kelvin's family.  Such a small world to find them both in our ward even though they did recently move out.
