This is what Lydia would call her afternoon on Tuesday! There is a family moving in our ward and I offered to watch their 2 older girls for a couple of hours while they get some things done. All mom's know how wonderful it is not to have to worry about kids when moving. So they dropped the girls off that afternoon and they all 3 just had a ball. They played with toys, they watched part of a movie (until they got bored and wanted to play again) and they ran around. Lydia thought she was in heaven. I must say that the girls were actually well behaved and played very nicely. The oldest one is like a little mother who was so great with Lydia and would tell her that pushing isn't nice and Lydia would listen! Kids really do learn from each other and I'm glad that this was one of those good things to learn. When Kelvin came home he thought it was so funny watching the girls chase each other that he caught it on video. Hopefully, this is just one of more fun afternoons to come.

One Month Old
It's amazing that one month in a pregnancy can DRAG on for what seems like forever and yet when they are here it can go so fast! I am still shocked that it has already been a month (as of the 9th). I am recovering really well and gaining more and more strength everyday. It feels so good to have energy, I had forgotten what it was like not to be exhausted and in pain all the time. I have even made a few trips to the park by myself with the 2 kiddos and so far it has gone really well. Lydia seems to grow up more and more and is getting to be really obedient which has been wonderful for me! It makes life so much easier. I am a little surprised at how long it takes to get ready to leave with 2 kids now instead of just one. The time it takes has more than doubled. You really wouldn't think that it would be that way, but it is. It will get better as they get older, but for now it's a process. Jason will give us smiles every now and then and it melts my heart to see his sweet face looking at me with a big grin. He is such a joy to us and I still can't get enough of him.
His cousin Tristan is so curious about him. We joke that it's because he want's Jason to grow up quick so he can have a little play buddy since Lydia and Isabella play together a lot. When we went to visit the other day, Tristan kept coming over and touching Jason and even tried to pick him up once. He will also grab his hand as if he is silently telling him to get up and come play. They will be good friends and be able to take on those girls soon enough.
Like I said in an older post, Jason is so big! It makes me laugh to see my chunky little baby and I am very happy that he is that way (although my back would protest that statement). He is averaging 5-6 ounces per feeding and eats about ever 2 1/2 hours but he will go for 6 hour stretches at night so I only have to get up once (even though I still don't get lots of sleep with a late night feeding and Lydia waking up early). I don't think I've ever fed him less than 4 ounces since he came home. This kid can eat!
We got some family pictures for the first time today and we are excited to get them back. While I still have to get over the fact that my body isn't back to where I would like, I know that it will come. I am trying to have patience with myself and not judge the pictures based on how "big" I think I look. You will get to see our complete family portraits soon when we get them back.
We are adjusting to being a family of four fairly well and couldn't imagine life any differently. Jason is such an amazing and sweet spirit. He is my baby boy!

Watch out! He might just have inherited "the look" that Lydia is famous for.
All Tucked In
One thing we are hoping for is that when we move Jason into the room with Lydia that she will start to sleep better. Funny thing though, she has been sleeping a lot better since day light savings! Hopefully it will stay that way but if we know our little squeaker, it probably won't. She has gotten so much better in the car, in both being put in her car seat (she used to fight us like the furry when she was put in her car seat) and on drives (she would sometimes just cry and cry). We think that now she see's that other kids have to be in car seats too, she is more okay with it and let go of her "equal rights for squeaky's" protests. Plus she really enjoys having a sibling. It's still so much fun to see her have fun with Jason and make sure he is okay and that we remember to pray for him every night. Jason has also started to smile at her which she thinks is just the coolest thing ever! Can I say it's just adorable?
Well, the other night we put him in her bed to snuggle for a bit when she was struggling to calm down. He is such a calming influence on her because she is learning that she has to be soft with the baby and she really tries hard. She is still learning of course, but progress is being made and she still adores her little brother.

Can Anyone Say Big Baby!
So Jason was a little bit smaller than we all thought he would be when he was born, but he has definitely made up for it since! The kid is only 1 month old and is already in 3 month clothes. Everyone today at the park was asking how old he was and if he is just a tall kid. I would laugh and tell them that he is just a chunk! We love it though. He and Lydia have been such different babies. Lydia was so skinny and below the 25% and is now only in the 30%. Plus she was still wearing 3 month pants when she was almost a year (they were shorts but they were the only ones that would fit her waist). I have no doubt that Jason will be the opposite. He looks so big and it's hard to believe that he is only 1 month old, he looks so much older.
The first day he was born he was holding his head up for short amounts of time which is impressive to begin with but makes it more so when you see the size of his head! He is getting much better at controlling that now and can hold it up for a sustained amount of time. He can move his hands to grab/swat at his toys on his play-mat or bouncer, and for my FAVORITE thing of all.....he is smiling!!!! It's the cutest thing in the world to see your baby smile back at you.
He is growing up so fast that I will look at him and tell him to stop growing so fast. Gregory laughs at me when I say that but I can't help but feel a bitter sweet moment knowing that I will probably never get to hold a baby of mine again. I am holding onto every precious moment of him as a baby and loving it! I am so blessed to have two such wonderful kiddos. I don't know what I did in the life before this to be so blessed to be their mom. They are precious spirits.
My dad had a lay over in Dallas on Sunday and we were so lucky to be able to go see him! It was the first time he met his grandson. It's so sad to think that he was a month old before Grandpa got to hold him, but that's what happens when you live far away from your family. It's been hard on me to be so far away, but my parents have been able to make a few trips out which has been great. They will also be flying out in 2 weeks for Jason's baby blessing. We are very excited for that. Seeing my dad at the airport was so much fun even if it was only for 30 min, it was definitely worth it!

All ready for church last Sunday. My favorite trio!

Lydia and Jason
I can't tell you how much Lydia loves her little brother. She is hugging and kissing him all the time. Earlier today he started to cry while I was busy and couldn't get to him right away so she went over and sat next to him and held his binkie in for him. He was totally calm and just looked at her. She was looking at him and gently stroking his face. SUCH a sweet moment. In the mornings when she wakes up she will stare at us in bed for a bit and then go right to the bassinet to check on her brother. Anytime she gets a chance she will ask to hold him and holds his little hands. I am very blessed to have two such loving kids. In fact, Lydia has calmed down a TON when she has to get in her car seat or we have to drive for a little ways. She used to throw fits and make things very difficult, but now she has mellowed a lot. We always knew that she would calm down if she had a sibling and it's really fun to see it happen. It's actually harder to put her to bed now because she wants to be with the baby and see's that he doesn't have to go to bed yet. That will change when we move him into her room. When that happens I think she will sleep a lot better too.
Life is going really well. I am feeling so much better and have actually taken a few trips with both kids by myself. Its been challenging dealing with 2 kids (especially when they are both screaming) but I do love it. Everyone tells me that the second one is the hardest and then when the third comes a long it's not so bad. I don't think I will get the chance to experience that, but I am grateful for what I do have.

First Sunday Back at Church
After 3 1/2 weeks I was going crazy being home and told Gregory that I was going to go to church. He kept asking me if I was sure and I would tell him that I was. Yes, it was probably a little too early (or maybe a lot too early) but I was getting really frustrated not being able to get out. Remember I had been at home for the past 3 months on modified bed rest so it had been a while since I had really gotten out. When we got to church everyone was shocked that I was back already but excited to see the baby. Everyone was so kind too telling me that I looked really good for just having a baby. That made me feel good. I have a little ways to go but it was still a great confidence booster that things were on the right track. We tried to get a picture to celebrate our family going to church together for the first time, but we kept having problems so you get a picture with part of Gregory's head cut off.
This picture makes us laugh. I look really tired (which I was), Lydia looks mad, and Jason looks like he is laughing.
Daddy and Daughter Time
On one particularly long night with Jason a couple weeks ago, Gregory was so good as to get up with Lydia and play with her so I could get an extra hour of sleep. He was a saint!!! It was so needed and I felt so much better after words. Crazy how much a little sleep can really make a difference. When I did get up with the baby I came into Lydia's room to find a great big fort had taken over with the two culprits inside! I laughed for quite a while. I tried to take pictures but Lydia was being a stinker so all I got was one. But just take my word for it, it was a pretty good fort and Lydia loved it.
What would a fort be without a sword!!
